Masterchef Junior

During last Christmas holidays I followed the children competing in Masterchef Junior. There were 16 children and they had to cook in order to see who was the best cook... the Masterchef junior.

I hadn't seen the adult version (despite one of the most famous contestants, Maribel, is from Benicarló like me) because I am not a very good cook and I thought that watching people while cooking would be so boring... but I saw the children by chance... and I got hooked... how can it be possible? They are so young, and they are so gifted with the knives and the saucepans and all that stuff!!! Incredible!!!

So I saw the four programmes and although my favourite boy, the eight-year-old Aimar, didn't win, he got until the third programme... so it was a very good position! He was so funny and cute!!!

The winner, Mario (12) was really amazing. He was so calm and organized!!! And the finalist, Eva Luna (11), was so good too.

And I mustn't forgive to mention Carlos, the 10-year-boy from Vinaròs! He was only during the first programme, but he cooked really well!!!

Bloxorz... do you remember?

Almost all of my students of 3rd and 4th of ESO were also my pupils when they were 5th or 6th Primary students. Then I taught them some ICT contents, like creating their first email address, sending some emails, working in the virtual school... and sometimes I showed them some online games (always in English!)... their favourite was "Bloxorz", and I remember how we were absolutely hooked to that game. It consists on getting a block off a hole by using our spatial and mathematical abilities and using only our brain and the keyboard arrows.

As I am not at all good at art, I always find any artistic expression as incredible... but, let me show you this photos I have found in a Facebook page called "Amazing things in the world", in the album called "Awesome creativity with everyday objects"

Artist Victor Nunes combines every-day objects with simple illustrations to turn them into pictures of faces, animals and other playful scenes. His images invite us to look at the world differently and find creative images in our surroundings.

Amélie

Cette semaine les élèves de français et moi sommes en train de régarder le film "Amélie" en version original sous-titré en espagnol. C'est une comédie romantique.

Ici tu peux voir le trailer d'Amélie:

"Amélie" n'est pas le titre complet... il s'agit de "Le Fabuleux Destin d’Amélie Poulain". Amélie est le prénom de la protagoniste, et je peux vous dire qu'elle n'est pas une fille normale et courante... Amélie est une jeune très speciale :)

Un des personnages du film est un voisin d'Amélie avec une maladie qui ne lui permet pas d'avoir une vie normale. L'homme de verre, comme il est connu, peint seulement une oeuvre très fameuse de Renoir, "Le déjeneur des canotiers". 

 J'ai acheté le DVD il y a quelques années... et c'est une de mes films préférés. En plus, sa musique (creé par Yann Tiersen) est devenue très fameuse. 

Et toi, tu as vu ce film? Je te recommande de le voir! 

Christmas time!

We are starting Christmas time!!! Time to share, time to be with our beloved ones, time to think about all the good we have, time to think about the people who are not here anymore with us (and we miss them so much!), and time to FEEL the Christmas sense, the true Christmas meaning...

I wish you a very very very happy and merry Christmas... and the best for next year!

Here I leave a piece of the film"Love actually", a romantic comedy Christmassy film. Don't you know this film? I recommend it to you.

The book I am reading (4)

In fact, I have just finished it... it is called "Bajo la misma estrella" in Spanish, but the original one is "The fault in our stars", by John Green.

It is about Hazel, a 16-year-old girl who has lung cancer. She is a bit depressed, so her mum forces her to attend a support group. She doesn't want to go, but accepts... and there she met Augustus, a gorgeous boy who will change her life and her attitude towards cancer, love, death... Augustus had cancer too and he lost his right leg, so he knows perfectly about having cancer.

Is it a love story? Yes. Is it sad? Yes. And it is very hard sometimes... but it is also full of humour, laughs, emotion, tenderness and friendship. If you start reading, I am sure you will get caught...

Goosebumps (2)

I suppose I am the last person on earth to have seen this video... it seems all my friends know it! But, just in case you haven't discovered the magic of the first year in Ward's life... just have a go.



Ward was born too early... two months and a half before he was expected to be born. He weighed about 700 grames... and as his mum hold him in her arms, his dad started to record (he is a professional photographer). Now, a year later, he has made a video as a present for his wife (Ward's mum), and also as a tribute to the hospital staff. It is incredible how tiny and fragile was Ward at the very beginning of the video... and what he looks like now, a year later.

Barcelona, nit d'estiu

Last Sunday I saw this film about six couples and their love relationships. Everything happens in a city you know well... Barcelona. Everything happens before a comet passes by, on a hot summer night.

I enjoyed the film a lot, but above all, I fell in love with the soundtrack. I discovered a new group called "Joan Dausà i els tipus d'interés" and a very intense song called "Jo mai mai". This song is performed on a scene in the film, and this is my favourite scene... Unfortunately I haven't found it on Youtube, so I can't show you how it is... But I can show you the song itself. Here you are!

I love autumn

I love autumn. It is indeed  my favourite season. Why? There are a lot of reasons to like autumn... Here are some.

Autumn is romantic. In autumn you can take the most amazing photos, because autumn landscapes and colours are special.

Autumn is fresh. Not so cold as winter, but not so hot as summer. The weather is cool in the morning and at night, but it is very hot at midday. You can still go to the beach and sunbathe a little... but you don't get "crispy" like in summer.

In autumn there are a lot of festivities and fairs in the nearby towns. You can also celebrate Halloween, Saint's Day, the Valencian Community Day, The Hispanic Day, the Constitution Day... so we have a few days off to have a rest and relax a bit.

There are some special days for me to celebrate during autumn. 

October and November are my favourite months. 

One of my favourite songs is called "Octobre". 

One of my favourite films is called "Sweet November".

And finally... Autumn is just before Christmas season...
